This Italian Baked Fig Recipe is lovely served with goat cheese or brie, perfect as a pastry filling, pizza topping, in a salad, or have them for dessert over whipped ricotta or frozen yogurt. It's the best recipe when you have a surplus of figs!

What you'll need for this Fig Recipe

    • Figs - My friend gifted me a TON of Brown Turkey Figs from her tree, but you don't have to use just Brown Turkey Figs in this dish. This recipe is also great to use with any and all kinds of figs.
    • Madeira - Madiera is a fortified that is sweet. I really like using this Madeira which has been labeled as "Best in the World!" You can also use port or sherry.
    • Honey - Get creative and try flavored honey or also hot honey! In a pinch you could also use sugar or agave.

So that's it, it just takes 3 ingredients! I also added a sprinkle of dried lavender on top because I had it on hand, but it's completely optional.

    How to make it

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
    2. In a pie, tart, or cast iron pan, overlap the fig halves in a spiral shape. (See video. )
    3. Pour the Madiera and Honey over the figs. Optional, sprinkle with Lavender.
    4. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or cold with cheese and bread.
