Healthy, creamy and delicious! And all in just 5 minutes with 5 ingredients. This whipped feta cheese (or Tyrosalata in Greek) is made with Olive Oil & Greek yogurt, seasoned with garlic and fresh basil and is equally addictive as a dip, sauce or spread.

    Whipped Feta Dip

WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS BASIL WHIPPED FETA DIP

    • It's quick and all done in just 5 minutes
    • It's easy - just dump everything in a food processor and go
    • It's healthy with low carbs and healthy Greek yogurt
    • It tastes amazing with Feta cheese, garlic and basil
    • It's a great sauce for almost anything: meat, fish, chicken, bread, chips...
    • You can adjust it as you like to work with what you have and pair perfectly with your food

This herby and creamy basil feta dip is the appetizer for all your summer gatherings. It comes together in a food processor in less than a minute! Simply add feta, basil, greek yogurt, and Olivo Amigo Olive Oil to a food processor and blend to your desired consistency. Top it off with an extra drizzle of Olive Oil and some baby basil leaves.

Serve with pita, crudite or with grilled chicken kabobs! Anyway you choose to enjoy this yummy dip, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Also be sure to try my Caprese Crostini, Grilled Bruschetta, Italian BBQ Sauce, Baked Brie with Blackberries, Whipped Ricotta Crostini, and Italian Green Sauce.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR THIS BASIL WHIPPED FETA DIP

    • Feta Block - Feta in block form is key. You'll find it in the store next to the crumbles.
    • Basil Leaves - I picked mine fresh from the garden, but you can also get store bought!
    • Olivo Amigo Joy Extra Virgin Olive Oil - You should know by now, that I'm a big fan!
    • Greek Yogurt - You can also use plain yogurt, but I like the extra creaminess that the Greek yogurt adds.
    • Kosher Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper

    INGREDIENT NOTES & SUBSTITUTIONS

    • Garlic can be skipped
    • Fresh basil can be skipped or switched for dried basil
    • I always use Greek or Turkish yogurt, but any natural yogurt works
    • Yogurt can be switched for crème fraîche, cream cheese or sour cream

HOW TO MAKE BASIL FETA DIP

For a quick step-by-step intro to how to make it - check out this video.

    1. Place all ingredients in a food processor
    2. Close the lid and mix until creamy and smooth - 30 seconds to 1 minute
    3. Taste test and adjust seasoning as needed

    TIPS & TRICKS

    • Instead of a food processor you can use an immersion blender, regular blender, mixer, or just a fork to mash up the Feta cheese
    • Adjust the consistency by adding more or less olive oil
    • Mix it smooth or keep it chunky - both ways are delicious
    • Adjust the flavors to match what you're serving it with - for example, adding some lemon juice is great when serving it with fish or seafood. See more tips for how to tweak it below!

No, Whipped Feta does not freeze well.

    HOW TO SERVE IT

Whipped Feta goes with almost anything. Here are a few of my favorite ways to serve it, but I am sure you can come up with even more delicious ways! Also, let me know what your favorite way to serve this is in the comments below!

    HOW TO TWEAK IT

There are so many versions of this recipe, and I encourage you to try it out and come up with your own favorites. If you do - please let me know in the comments below! To get you started, here are some of my favorite tweaks:

    • Crème fraîche instead of yogurt makes an even creamier version with more fat and less acidity. You could also use sour cream.
    • Sun-dried tomatoes are a delicious addition, but feel free to leave them out!
    • Add lemon juice to make it even more perfect as a sauce for fish and seafood
    • More garlic to spice things up a bit, but if you're really looking for spice, you can also add red pepper flakes.
    • Rosemary instead of basil for a delicious twist, and it then goes great with garlic & rosemary seasoned lamb chops.
    • Any other herbs you like - You can also just grab what you have or what you love and make this sauce your own.
