Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooking spray
  • Small saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Instant-Read Thermometer
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ clove garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon salt to taste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce divided

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Set oven to 400°F (200°C). Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.

Prepare Meatloaf

  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic, black pepper, and salt. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared baking dish.

Bake

  • Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, spoon half of the tomato sauce over the meatloaf and return it to the oven for another 10-15 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer reads 160°F (70°C) in the center.

Rest and Serve

  • Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. While resting, heat the remaining tomato sauce in a small saucepan. Serve the warmed sauce over the sliced meatloaf.

Notes

  • Serve with pasta, a side salad, or some roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Freezer-Friendly: You can make extra and freeze for later meals!
